Community Development

The Community Development Department oversees several divisions within the City of Mexico including the following:

  • Community Development
    • Community Development Block Grant Program
    • Planning and Zoning Commission
    • Zoning Board of Adjustment
  • Code Enforcement
  • Mexico Animal Shelter
  • Household Hazardous Waste
  • Building and Ground Maintenance
Department Responsibilities

The Community Development Department is responsible for the preparation and administration of grant applications submitted to the State and Federal governments. This department also coordinates the city’s neighborhood development activities. They also work closely with the city manager and Economic Development director to implement the city’s economic and industrial development program.

Supervision is provided through the Community Development Department to oversee all of the city’s planning activities and work with the city engineer to provide staff support to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
