The Public Safety Department is responsible for fire protection for the City of Mexico. This includes fire suppression, fire inspections, and fire safety programs.
All Public Safety officers are cross-trained as firefighters. Officers receive training at the local, state, and national level. Locally, officers receive training from the Department's fire training officer, a State-certified fire instructor.
Officers may also attend the Missouri Fire Rescue Training Institute and the National Fire Academy during their career.
